This programme talks about the rights of forest dwellers. To understand the issue we have talked with Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Executive Director, Climate Parliament. He informed us about the Forest Rights Act 2006, how this act delivers the best to forest dwellers. He also urges that this act is performing well at the ground level with the participation of community people.

Himanshu Rath, Founder, Agewell Foundation speaks about the various issues and problems of senior citizens. He urges that we should change our mentality and perception for them. He added that we need to understand the current situation of old age homes and our senior citizens should be our priority in any case.

programme is based on the issues of legal awareness among people. Nyayapath is an initiative by UNDP, Department of Justice, Government of India and OneWorld. Information regarding legal awareness can be obtained from nyayapath.net and the information kiosk, Nyayapath, which have been installed in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Anju Talukdar, Executive Director, Multiple Action Research Group (MARG) speaks about the importance of training and participation of people for making people aware of their legal rights. She added that the use of various media has been useful in providing information and to promote people on their legal rights and literacy.

It provides important information on women rights such as women cann’t be arrested at night and she can’t be put in a men’s cell under any condition. Geeta Luthra, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India speaks about the importance of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. She further suggests that societal and educational change is important to make women empowered and respected.

 She added that the country has sufficient laws but the problem lies in its implementation and the delay happens in offering justice.

Kanoon ki Baat is aired as part of Gurgaon Live on Gurgaon ki Awaaz and also aired on Radio Mewat.

Kanoon Ki Baat provides an opportunity for the general public to get into conversation with the judicial experts (like the District and Sessions Judge or the Chief Judicial Magistrate or Advocates)in order to give feedback, provide suggestions and get answers to their queries and find ways to sort out issues related to law, justice and your right.

This particular episode was aired on Radio Mewat and talks about special rights and provisions provided by the government for senior citzens.

In this episode, the panel legal experts are Advocate Shri. Rajesh Chhoker and Shri. Lajpat Rai from Sessions court, Nuh, who are ready to interact with the local public with an aim to generate awareness and to extend a friendly arm to the public.
